Book Beat December Newsletter

Detroit Photographic Company, Detroit, 1910

Dear Readers,

Our December newsletter is a brief one.. a special edition of staff favorites and gift guides will be coming soon.

A new letter from China was sent from Book Beat reviewer Tom Bowden who writes about his journey on the Yangtze river, and our repost this month is bookstore Patron Saints –about 1920s Parisian bookstore owners Sylvia Beach and Adrienne Monnier.

We have changed our November reading group meeting to Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 7 PM. Our January reading group book is The Apple in the Dark by Clarice Lispector, recently featured in Tom Bowden’s last column i arrogantly recommend… More copies have been ordered and are on their way. A notice will be sent to the reading group when available.

We hope to have your support for two fundraisers this weekend in support of two Detroit landmarks – on Friday and Saturday for the community non-profit space and cafè Trinosophes and on Sunday for the Gesu School library.

We wish all our friends, relatives and customers a healthy and peaceful season.

~Cary, Colleen and the staff at Book Beat
