A Night of Michigan History at Book Beat, Wed., July 10!

Book Beat welcomes ‘Detroit Rock City’ author Steve Miller to the store for a talk and book signing at 7pm on Thursday, July 11th.

Detroit Rock City’ is an oral history of Detroit and its music, told by the people who were on the stage, in the clubs, the practice rooms, studios, and in the audience, blasting the music out and soaking it up, in every rock music scene from 1967 to today.

Book Beat and the Huntington Woods Library welcome children’s author Ruth McNally Barshaw to the Huntington Woods Library (26415 Scotia Rd  Huntington Woods, MI 48070) on Thursday, July 18 from 1:00-3:00pm to sign copies of her popular Ellie McDoodle series. She will also demonstrate the famous doodling which has made Ellie such a beloved character! Be sure to join us for an afternoon of doodling and delight!  This event is free and open to the public. An Evening with Author David Rosenfelt

Join the Friends of the Grosse Pointe Libraryand the Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society for an evening with author David Rosenfelt on Monday, July 29 at 6pm in theGrosse Pointe War Memorial Auditorium (32 Lake Shore Rd  Grosse Pte Farms, MI 48236). David will be speaking at 7pm, followed by book signing afterward. There will be a special live auction to become a character in David Rosenfelt’s next book! Book Beat and the Baldwin Public Library present an afternoon with three Michigan area children’s authors on Tuesday, July 30 from 1:00-3:00pm in the Baldwin Public Library (300 W Merrill St  Birmingham, MI 48009). July Reading Group Selection

Book Beat’s Reading Group Selection for July is The Hearing Trumpet by Leonora Carrington. The Reading Group will meet Wednesday, July 24 at 7pm in the Goldfish Teahouse (101  117 W 4th St, Royal Oak, MI 48067). Books are discounted 15% at Book Beat. All are welcome!
