Preparing to reopen update

Walking Library, London 1930s

Dear Friends and Readers,

For the past couple weeks, Book Beat has been cleaning and preparing to reopen. We hope to make an announcement soon, before the end of the month. Subscribe to our newsletter for future updates at: Book Beat Homepage.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND CONTINUED SUPPORT!

Regardless of when and how we open, we are planning to continue with CURBSIDE PICKUP & SPECIAL ORDERS MAILED for $3 per box within the USA. Mail order bookselling has become integral to our business and will continue.

Direct Ordering

Direct sales to the shop benefit us immediately and are appreciated. Our current hours are: Mon.-Sat. 10 AM – 5 PM, Sun. 12-5 PM.

TO ORDER CALL (248) 968-1190, or email us at: BookBeatOrders@gmail.com We will get books to you, available for curbside pickup or shipped to anyone you’d like, as quickly as possible.

Ordering Online at Bookshop.org

If you’d like to browse from home (or from anywhere), our online bookshop is at: http://Bookshop.org/shop/Bookbeat/ Most of the books in Bookshop are stocked at our physical store. If they turn up as out-of-stock on Bookshop, try the bookstore: they may be available on our shelves.

For anyone who has shopped online, we kindly thank you, and have brazenly added your email to our newsletter subscriber list, but if you’d like to be removed, let us know. Bookshop.org has been a lifesaver. This small online selection has helped sustain us. Please visit. We continue to expand listings and catalogs at Bookshop on a daily basis.

For Audiobooks

For Audio Book fans, we have become an affiliate of LIBRO.FM & we’ve heard that the service, price and selection is similar to audible and other audio book services.

Rare and Out of Print Books

For scarce out-of-print books, collectible art and children’s books, please visit our Biblio.com shop. Biblio is owned and operated by indie bookstores to help indie bookstores. We update our inventory several times a week and ship orders within 24 hours.

Follow Us on Face Book, Instagram and Twitter

We update our Facebook page usually daily with book news, and reviews of interest: Facebook.com/bookbeat  and at Instagram, posts are similar to Facebook, but without links. At Book Beat’s Twitter Page we share links to book news and shop events.

Lastly, we’d like to draw your attention to this month’s guest columnists: Tom Bowden has been reviewing quality lit on a monthly basis (and sometimes twice monthly) in his “I arrogantly recommend…” postings. And Mary Margaret Serpento writes creative non-fiction book adventures, that fit (not-so-neatly) into the “arm-chair travel” category.

  1. Hi Colleen,
This is Ilene, George’s friend who has been a teacher and social worker for years. I moved to Ann Arbor and have to admit, I’m mostly supporting the local independent stores here. I went to see Geroge up in Alma yesterday and he told me he’d stopped to see you. He had to put down his 16 year old dog recently and is really grieving. He’s so isolated up there. Anyway, I was wondering if you can think of a book he doesn’t have that I could get for him for Father’s Day. I also wanted to get him a book for his grandchildren called “What is Race?” I looked and didn’t see it on your online books. I saw it being read on Facebook by a fabulous African American kindergarten teacher. She did a great job reading And it was a thoughtful book, explaining and answering this question for young children. His granddaughter is just turning 6 (I think!) and it would be a great book for Noah.
    Thanks!
    Ilene
