Book Synopsis: “Pictures of You”
Scheduled for release on Tuesday, September 8, Josh Malerman’s forthcoming novel Pictures of You is a high-concept, Hitchcockian captivity thriller. The story follows Emily, who wakes up alone in a strange, meticulously lit room with a pink ceiling and mauve walls after a night out with her fiancé, Jack. She has absolutely no memory of how she arrived.
At the edge of her bed sits an empty picture frame on an easel, and on the other side stands a silhouette of a deranged woman named Helen. Helen insists that Emily is not a guest, but rather her next great art masterpiece. Trapped under the chilling command to stay completely still, Emily learns that Jack’s life is on the line alongside her own. To escape this living portrait before the artist “finishes” her work, Emily must outthink her captor by learning to view her horrific situation through the mind of an artist.

About the Author
New York Times bestselling author Josh Malerman is one of the most compelling and prolific voices in modern horror fiction. Before exploding onto the literary scene, Malerman spent years living a dual life as a musician and a storyteller. As the singer and songwriter for the Detroit-based rock band The High Strung, he spent six years touring the country—playing roughly 250 shows a year—while drafting 14 unpublished novels longhand from the passenger seat of the band’s tour van.
Today, Malerman lives in Michigan with his wife, artist-musician Allison Laakko. He continues to blend high-concept dread with profound psychological intimacy, proving that whether he is holding a guitar or a pen, he knows exactly how to capture an audience’s heartbeat.
