Sunday, June 28 at 2 PM, the Photo Revisited group will meet at the Hatch Gallery for the closing of Looking Forward, Looking Back: Photographs by Rob Kangas. Photographer Rob Kangas will present an artist talk at the meeting and we can discuss his retrospective. The event is free and open to the public. The Hatch Art Gallery is located at: 3456 Evaline, Hamtramck, MI.

“I’m a lifelong film guy. Sure, I also make digital photographs like everybody else. But when it comes to art photographs, I’m a film guy. We are all unavoidably imprinted by our 1st love. My time and circumstances dropped me into the heyday of 35mm film. After decades in the darkroom, I now follow a hybrid practice of recording my images on film and outputting onto digital media.”

Rob Kangas was born and raised in Detroit. He received a BFA in Photography at The Center for Creative Studies in 1980, receiving an MFA from the University of Michigan in 1985. He was hired as the Program Coordinator of the Photography Department of Oakland Community College, Royal Oak in 1987. He served in this position for 38 years, retiring from photographic education in May 2025. He continues to work in photography and exhibit his work when possible.
