2025 marks the 100th anniversary of Surrealism. This year we are planning in store talks, reading group discussions and events to celebrate Surrealism. Our post on the Books of Surrealism is a starting point. From dreamlike art to mind-bending fiction, Surrealism has challenged reality since 1924. Join us this Saturday from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Book Beat for a special event with author, journalist, and producer Roger Rapoport. He’ll be signing copies of his book Searching for Patty Hearst and discussing his latest project, the upcoming film Old Heart, which he wrote and produced. The movie—based on the novel by Peter Ferry—has its World Premiere that evening at the historic Redford Theatre. Don’t miss this chance to meet Mr. Rapoport, hear behind-the-scenes stories, and celebrate a compelling new film rooted in literary fiction.
Our good friend Ms. Shirley Tinsley rejoins our newsletter this month with a recent letter she dropped off in praise of some of her favorite books.
