Everyone’s Reading 2011 – Michael Connelly and The Lincoln Lawyer

Participating libraries around the Detroit Metro Area are very excited about this year’s Everyone’s Reading title, The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly.  This is a community-wide reading program sponsored by Metro Detroit public libraries in Oakland and Wayne counties that promotes community dialogue through reading and discussing the same book.  People at the libraries have been meeting and talking about The Lincoln Lawyer during the months of February through April, culminating in a visit from the author on April 14 at two events. This promises to be a great time and just happens to coincide with the new release of The Lincoln Lawyer, a motion picture starring Matthew McConaughey.

The first event will be at the Community House in Birmingham ( 380 South Bates Street, Birmingham, MI 48009 #248-644-5832) on April 14 at 2 p.m.  The larger event will be at the Jewish Community Center (JCC Berman Theatre 6600 W. Maple Rd, West Bloomfield, MI 48322, corner of Maple and Drake #248-661-1000)  at 7:30 pm on the same day.  Tickets for the events are free and open to the public and can be obtained at your local participating library, however the JCC Berman Theatre is a large 600 capacity theatre and if you are not able to get a ticket you will most likely still be able to get a seat for the evening event.  There is also an overflow room if the theatre does fill up.  People who present a ticket will be wait listed and then seated in the order they arrive.  Book Beat will be selling copies of Michael Connelly’s latest Mickey Haller, “Lincoln Lawyer” novel, The Fifth Witness will be for sale at both events as well as assorted other titles by the author.
