The Wicking of the Broken Heart: Selected Poems by Robin Eichele

personal

you are invited, yes, you, the reader of
these words
I know you are there and you are not being
ignored
I have a place for you in the pocket
of the poem where it will keep you safe

please do not look out while I practice
walking the high wire, casting miniature
castles or sharpening knives to slice
one-hundred fresh tomatoes
it may make no sense, it may be
frightening, or it may appear to be
too high to
ever get down

~Robin Eichele

“Robin Eichele’s poems … quietly invite you, like Alice’s rabbit, to follow them and to reconsider your view of all you know of the world.”
–Bill Harris, Award-winning Michigan playwright and poet

“His highly original metaphors and images translate the unknown world that lies below for the soul of our humanity that awaits the opportunity to be awakened by the poetry of life and beauty.”
–M.L. Liebler, Award-winning poet and educator
