Rudolph Schwarzkogler: Leben und Werk

Monograph on the short-lived Austrian performance artist, who was associated with the Viennese Actionism movement and is best known for photographs depicting his series of “Aktionen” featuring dead fish and chickens, colored liquids, bound objects, and a man wrapped in gauze. “Schwarzkogler… left behind a diverse body of work of a high aesthetic quality. The actions had always taken place in private; only at the first one were friends invited as an audience, while in all the others, Schwarzkogler had worked exclusively for the camera.” Includes concept sketches for actions, and reproductions of text pieces. Published by Ritter Verlag Klagenfurt, 1992. 464pp; in German. New softcover in dustjacket. [YA3]
