Rare Original 1977 MC5, Destroy All Monsters, and Sillies: Kramer Theatre Concert Handbill
This is an incredibly scarce, authentic piece of Detroit punk rock ephemera from the late 1970s. This original promotional handflyer advertises the legendary August 10, 1977 show at Detroit’s historic Kramer Theatre (located at 5745 Michigan Avenue).
A true holy grail for Midwest rock historians, this gig captures a massive transitional moment in local music history, bridging the gap between ’60s protopunk and ’70s new wave. The historic lineup featured:
- MC5: Rob Tyner’s “New” MC5 era lineup.
- The Sillies: Making their historic live concert debut.
- Destroy All Monsters: The legendary underground art-punk band featuring Ron Asheton of The Stooges.
- Bittersweet Alley: Rounding out the powerful local bill.

Collector’s Note
Unlike large venue posters, small paper flyers like this were printed cheaply and handed out on the street or left on record store counters. Very few survived the night, let alone the last five decades. This represents a rare opportunity to own a piece of the direct lineage connecting the MC5, The Stooges, and Destroy All Monsters. VF copy on colored cardstock. [pb10-blue]
