There\u2019s been a lot going on, as they say.<\/p>\n<p>This year marks the 100th anniversary of the James Joyce masterpiece <a href=\"https:\/\/bookshop.org\/a\/1028\/9780394743127\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Ulysses<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, arguably the most significant book of the past one hundred years. Many celebrations are honoring the book and at the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas, there&#8217;s the exhibition <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/news.utexas.edu\/2022\/02\/01\/womens-impact-on-joyces-ulysses-highlighted-by-centenary-exhibition\/\">Women Behind the Making of Ulysses<\/a><\/strong>. A rare interview and profile of Joyce was made by the great writer Djuna Barnes and published in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/news\/1922\/03\/james-joyce-djuna-barnes-ulysses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Vanity Fair<\/em><\/a> just a couple of months after the book&#8217;s release in 1922. As today is #Bloomsday the London Review of Books has generously taken down their paywall for William Empson\u2019s 15,000 word two part essay on the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lrb.co.uk\/the-paper\/v04\/n15\/william-empson\/the-ultimate-novel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018Ultimate Novel\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This month we send our good wishes to all the Fathers, Grandfathers, and Great Grandfathers for a happy Father&#8217;s Day this Sunday, June 19. In added celebration, Sunday also falls on Juneteenth Independence Day.
