Join us at the Harper Woods Public Library (19601 Harper Rd., Harper Woods, MI 48225) on Wednesday, July 11th at 2pm to welcome local author and illustrator Ruth McNally Barshaw, creator of the popular children’s series Ellie McDoodle. Ruth will be signing copies of her books as well as teaching kids how to make their own doodles and drawings of funny animals! You can learn how to keep your own sketch journal just like Ellie McDoodle! Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event courtesy of Book Beat. This event will take place in the Community Room. Please visit the event page for more info or call the Harper Woods Library at (313) 343-2575.
“Her real name is Eleanor McDougal. Her friends call her Ellie McDoodle because she’s always doodling in her sketch journals. She spies on people and carries a sketch journal EVERYWHERE. She keeps track of everything including games, crafts, ideas, pranks, people, animals, nature… you name it, it’s in her book and Ellie has an opinion on it.”- visit the author’s website here for more info!
“Part journal, part graphic novel, all fun (with echoes of Harriet the Spy), this is a clever account of a growing-up experience that familiar to middle-grade readers.” –Kirkus Reviews
